THE TREATMENT

The term breast augmentation does not describe all the possibilities for improving a new, female body image. After pregnancies or heavy weight gain and loss, there is often a desire to give the breast more volume again. Patients with tubular breasts, also called tube or trunk breasts, want a rounder shape instead of the pointed shape. There are many different implants and techniques that produce different results. We will discuss which technique and implant is right for you in a joint consultation. The 3D scan can show you exactly the breast you want.

THE IMPLANTS – SAFETY FROM EUROPE.

Most of all women decide to have a breast augmentation with silicone implants. I have had very good and long-standing experience with implants from the German company Polytech, which are very stable, reliable, tried and tested over many years and of high quality.

The advantages of Polytech implants are:

  • Premium implants produced in Europe
  • High lightness and shape stability
  • Good wearing comfort and excellent tolerance
  • No “expiry date” – however, regular control by ultrasound is recommended.

This new generation of silicone implants is lighter, has a better feel, is made of a more dimensionally stable gel and is more robust. They are characterised by a high standard of quality and safety. The latest implants integrate better into the female breast, the silicone gel adapts to the natural movement of the body.

I also use the so-called B-Lite implants.

The advantages of B-Lite implants:

The mixture of microspheres and silicone gel makes the implants not only 30 percent lighter, but also firmer. This prevents an undesirable “rippling” effect. This effect occurs when implants create ripples that can be seen through the surface of the skin.

The firmer material of the B-Lite implants prevents this annoying “rippling” effect. However, the changed structure in the silicone gel also means that the breasts feel firmer and slightly less natural.

There are round and teardrop shapes. The difference lies in the manufacturing process, which is why anatomical implants are usually also firmer and more dimensionally stable than round implants. The disadvantage of the prefabricated shape is a deformation of the breast should the implant rotate.

The implant is placed during the operation under a light anaesthetic, directly under the muscle, dualplane (partially under the muscle) or under the gland.

With the right choice of implant, method and a lot of experience, the risk of possible dents or bumps can be minimised and prevented.

The anatomical implant (upper picture) has the special feature that 65 percent of the volume is in the lower pole, whereas with the round implant (lower picture) the distribution is 50:50. This means that the upper pole is emphasised more with round implants than with anatomical implants.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING AND AFTER THE OPERATION.

The breast augmentation procedure takes place in Vienna in a day clinic and under general anaesthesia. Depending on the method and technique, the operation takes 1-1.5 hours. Nowadays, an overnight stay in the clinic is no longer necessary for medical reasons. You can usually leave the clinic on the same day. Our patients are very happy to stay overnight if the journey is long or if you simply want a night’s rest from everyday life. Further check-ups in the surgery are important in order to optimally accompany the healing process. After 2-3 days the plaster is changed and after about 2 weeks the sutures are gently removed. Until the stitches are removed, you should avoid sport and do not get the stitches wet.

If you are prone to increased scarring, we can treat this with laser or medical needling (costs € 90,-/session).

It’s no secret that in the course of the aging process, connective tissue loses volume and tone. The area around the eyes is particularly affected by this. Excess skin causes drooping eyelids, the eyebrows droop and the lower eyelid casts gray shadows. The facial expression appears tired, sad and stressed. WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE THE OPERATION.

The most common procedure in the eye region is the upper eyelid lift with the aim of creating a fresh yet natural expression. Upper eyelid lifts are often combined with a lateral temple lift. In this way, excess skin on the side of the upper eyelid can be perfectly treated. The reason to undergo lower eyelid surgery is swelling with or without significant excess skin. When it comes purely to wrinkling of the lower eyelid, Fraxel laser treatment may be more appropriate than surgery. Tear troughs, which are often responsible for a tired facial expression, can be treated with autologous fat or hyaluronic acid and fillers. We will clarify together what is the most suitable treatment plan for you.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WITH AN UPPER EYELID LIFT.

In an upper eyelid lift, the incision is made directly in the fold of the eyelid so that the scar is hardly visible later. In addition to the removal of excess skin and fatty tissue, an inner brow lift or lifting of the lacrimal gland may be necessary. A lateral lift of the eyebrows can also eliminate the excess at the lateral edge of the eyelid. Here the incision is made in the hairy area of the temple without shaving out any hair. This way, the incision remains almost invisible. With the right technique, this operation can be performed almost scar-free.

EYELID PTOSIS

The impression of a tired look can also be caused by eyelid ptosis, which is NOT corrected by an upper eyelid lift. Eyelid ptosis is a congenital or acquired weakness of the eyelid lifting muscle. The upper eyelid “hangs” and can only be partially lifted. It covers – depending on the degree – the pupil partially or in rare cases almost completely. A small degree of eyelid ptosis is quite normal.

THE PROCEDURE

THE INTERVENTION AND AFTERCARE

A great advantage of these procedures is that they can be performed on an outpatient basis in our surgery with a local anaesthetic or twilight sleep. Should it be necessary, a general anaesthetic can also be used as an in-patient. It is well known that the best way to recover is at home, so you can go home with an escort just a few hours after the operation. We will give you the appropriate pain medication to counteract any pain. In order to check the healing of the wound and to assist you with any questions, a change of plaster is planned after two days. The stitches are then removed seven days after the operation. Once the stitches have been removed and the crusts loosened, you can start with the scar care LINK. Slight bruising will be visible for about 10-14 days, but you will generally be able to work the next day. You can apply make-up again after about 10 days. Your body needs about 1 week of rest, i.e. physical exertion should be avoided.
