Cellulite affects up to 80% of women worldwide during their lifetime. Due to our genes, blood circulation or the structuring of our skin and connective tissue, cellulite becomes more common as we age. But not all cellulite is the same. As with “wrinkles” on the face, it is important to analyse which reasons are responsible for the dimples before a possible treatment in order to be able to offer an individually tailored treatment. Cellulite almost always has three components:

Cellulite is almost never caused by one component alone, it is usually a combination of all three, with one component taking priority.

Soft connective tissue is on the one hand genetically determined, but can also increase with age and due to weight fluctuations. Due to the longitudinal connective tissue fibres between the skin and muscles, soft tissue can promote cellulite. Up to grade 3, a combination treatment of focused ultrasound (Ultherapy®) and Radiesse® (a collagen stimulator) can improve soft tissue. Using the scale, you can see what degree of “soft tissue” you have. The combination treatment with Ultherapy® and Radiesse® is a minimally invasive outpatient treatment with no downtime. You can go back to work the next day and you will not need any plasters after 24 hours.
ULTHERAPY® – a focused ultrasound – heats the tissue in depth to about 65°C and acts like “muscle training”.
RADIESSE®, which follows immediately after Ultherapy® in the same treatment, is injected under the skin with thin cannulas and works like “protein after muscle training”.
As Ultherapy® and Radiesse® stimulate your own tissues to produce their own collagen, you need to have a little patience. Studies have shown first visible results after six months. If this treatment is combined with Cellfina®, it would be advisable to have the Cellfina treatment already 1-2 months after the combination of Ultherapy® and Radiesse®. The costs vary depending on the area affected and the extent of the problem, i.e. the size of the treatment area. We charge 490€ per palm area for the combination treatment.
Fatty tissue also has an influence on the appearance of cellulite. If there is a little more subcutaneous fatty tissue, many small dents appear on the surface. In this case, the reduction of fatty tissue is indicated: on the one hand, by one’s own efforts through regular and healthy nutrition in combination with sports, on the other hand, also through non-invasive treatments such as CoolCrush® – freezing fat away without surgery. This type of cellulite usually occurs with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of more than 28. If the BMI is significantly below 20 and cellulite appears, a “too empty” skin mantle can be the cause. In this case, dimples appear which are very difficult to treat because the skin mantle would have to be filled in.

With a normal distribution of fat tissue, healthy skin and firm connective tissue, cellulite can still occur. We then speak of “structural cellulite” when its cause lies in longitudinally running bands that pull the skin downwards in individual places. The Cellfina® procedure has been successful in reducing structural cellulite effectively and in the long term. According to studies, 96% of the treated patients are still satisfied with the result after more than 5 years from the time of treatment. There is no comparable treatment against cellulite in the world that has such a large amount of study material and such a high degree of reliability. This also makes us very confident that the results will last for many years.
With Cellfina® the connective tissue fibres are cut under the skin under local anaesthesia and the skin is thus smoothed. Cellulite on the buttocks and thighs can thus be effectively and above all permanently reduced. You lie relaxed on a couch during the entire treatment. First, the skin is washed sterilely and the treatment area is covered. The treatment areas, which have been marked beforehand, are first locally anaesthetised using a special attachment and then treated with a fine microblade in the second step. The connective tissue fibres between the skin and the deep tissue are cut. As a result, the dent disappears permanently, as the fibres cannot reconnect through the Cellfina® procedure.

This cellulite treatment takes place in our surgery in Vienna. A Cellfina treatment has to be performed only once. The treatment lasts 45 to 90 minutes and involves hardly any downtime. The procedure should NOT be performed during menstruation. Similarly, dietary supplements or infusions of iron should be paused for 4 weeks prior to the procedure. Both can lead to increased hyperpigmentation of the skin. After a Cellfina treatment you are immediately fit for social life and for work the next day. However, you should refrain from sporting activities for the first 2-3 weeks. For optimal results, a compression garment will be fitted after the treatment and should be worn for a few days.
