Surgical correction of breast operations
As with any surgery, breast surgery can also lead to complications. Your new breast doesn’t look the way you imagined, you are in pain, you are not feeling well? Many patients with an already operated breast ask for trustworthy advice and expertise and possibly a new operation so that their breasts finally become their dream boobs.
An unsuccessful operation should and must not happen, but there is usually a possibility of correction or improvement. Many factors play a role for the perfect breast: the experience of the doctor, the choice of implant, location and incision determine how perfect the result is. However, the body is not a Lego construction kit and therefore individual healing is also an important factor. No surgeon is immune from this and everyone who has operated for a long time has already treated their own complications. As I gained more experience, I became more and more fascinated by the correction of interventions, as these interventions give me the feeling of returning to the origins of the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
First of all, a distinction has to be made as to whether it is a lack of treatment success or an actual treatment error that can even have life-threatening consequences. A result that does not meet the patient’s expectations is not always considered a treatment error. It is also possible that the surgeon has worked according to all medical standards and the result looks different than planned. This can depend on the breast tissue, for example. Factors such as a previous pregnancy, the symmetry of the breasts, a smoker or the patient’s physical fitness can influence the result. It can take up to a year for the scars to heal and for all swelling to go away before the end result of a breast operation is achieved.
Have you been treated by a trained, licensed plastic surgeon?
Have you been informed about the risks and side effects?
Were you able to clarify all open questions in advance?
We have created a checklist (click here for more information) that contains all the questions you should ask the treating doctor before an operation.
YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN OPERATED AND YOUR CHEST DOESN’T LOOK LIKE YOU IMAGINED?
If one or more points apply, speak to your surgeon or arrange a meeting and we will look at it together.
- You are in pain.
- The implants are out of place or too big.
- The implants are too close to each other.
- The breasts look asymmetrical.
- The breasts droop.
- You feel hardening (read here about capsular contracture).
- The scars are too big and not pretty.
- You feel less in the chest area.
TRUST – EXPERIENCE – TECHNOLOGY.
As unique as every woman is, so is every breast. Therefore, every treatment must also be tailored to individual needs. If the plastic surgeon does not have enough experience and know-how in breast surgery, mistakes can occur: a tubular breast is not recognised as this, an asymmetrical breast is operated incorrectly, and the proportions are ultimately incorrect. But you don’t have to accept this result.
